가해자 A군 등은 지난달 29일 오전 0시 30분쯤 서울에서 훔친 그랜저 렌터카를 몰고 가다 대전 한 교차로에서
오토바이를 운전하던 B군(18)을 들이받았고, B군은 인근 병원으로 이송됐지만 숨졌습니다.
당시 차량에는 약 8명이 타고 있었는데, B군은 올해 대학에 입학해 생활비를 벌기 위해 배달 대행 아르바이트를 하다
이 같은 사고를 당한 것으로 알려져 안타까움을 더했습니다.
그런데 문제는 사고를 낸 운전자가 13살 중학생이라는 겁니다.
또래 7명과 함께 서울서 렌트카를 훔쳤고, 경찰 단속에 걸리자 도주까지 했습니다.
절도에 무면허운전에 뺑소니 사망 사고까지 저질렀지만 이들은 만 14세가 안 된 촉법소년이어서
형사 책임을 물을 수 없습니다.
이들을 엄벌하라는 청와대 국민청원이 올라온지 하루 만에 50만이 넘는 동의를 얻었습니다.
최근 4년간 소년부에 송치된 촉법소년 10명 중 8명가량은 살인과 강도 등 죄질이 큰 4대 범죄를 저질렀습니다.
강력범죄 연령이 낮아지면서 촉법소년 나이를 낮추자는 여론이 일었지만 제도에는 반영되지 못하고 있습니다.
그런데 가해자들이 어리다는 이유로 형사처벌을 할 수 없다는 사실이 알려지자,
이들을 엄하게 벌해야 한다는 청와대 국민청원에 하루 만에 50만 명 넘는 사람들이 동의했습니다.
청원인은 "당시 렌트카 운전자는 만 14세 미만 형사 미성년자로 촉법소년에 해당해 형사처분 대신 보호처분을 받는다고
하더라"며 "앞으로 이런 일이 일어나지 않게 가해자 청소년들을 꼭 엄중 처벌해달라"고 호소했습니다.
현재 이 청원은 4일만에 90만 동의를 얻었으며, 곧 100만을 돌파 사안의 귀추가 주목되고 있습니다.
고작 13살 중학생이 밤 12시 30분에 집에 있지 않는것부터 할말을 잃었습니다. 뭐 그럴수 있다고 치고
차를 훔쳐 몰고 멀리 가던 중인걸 보면 그 시간에 모인 것이 익숙해보이고 시간도 많아보이네요.

음주 운전이나 운전 미숙은 누구를 죽이는게 아니라 본인들이 죽을수도 있습니다.
결국 내가 아닌 친구들을 죽일수 있는 일인데, 만일 저 사고가 다른 형태로 발생해
친구 2-3명이 죽는 사고가 발생했다면 그 사망자의 부모는 과연 어떤 행동을 취할지 궁금하네요.
일반적으로 운전과 관련된 사건은 사회적으로 매우 크게 다뤄지고 엄벌에 처해지게 됩니다.
만약에 미성년이라도 오토바이나 자동차 불법 운전은 엄벌에 처한다는 법이 있다고 가정해 보겠습니다.
저 상황에서 8명 아이들중에 한명은 알고 있지 않았을까요 ? 그리고 분명 말렸을 거라고 생각합니다.
그럼 차량 절도를 애초 하지않았거나, 운전을 해도 저렇게 신나게 시속 200키로나 달릴수 있었을까 싶네요.
이 가해자들의 비하인드 스토리가 궁금해집니다. 전적은 없는지, 가정 환경은 어떤지, 등등..
아무튼 더 이상 이런식의 황당한 죽음은 없었으면 좋겠습니다.
